2 Chronicles 33:9-13

9Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem astray, to do more evil than the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the people of Israel.

Manasseh’s Repentance

10The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they paid no attention. 11 aTherefore the Lord brought upon them the commanders of the army of the king of Assyria, who captured Manasseh with hooks and bbound him with chains of bronze and brought him to Babylon. 12And when he was in distress, he entreated the favor of the Lord his God cand humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. 13He prayed to him, and dGod was moved by his entreaty and heard his plea and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. eThen Manasseh knew that the Lord was God.

Jeremiah 3:8-14

8She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, mI had sent her away with na decree of divorce. oYet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went pand played the whore. 9Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with qstone and tree. 10Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me rwith her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the Lord.”

11And the Lord said to me, sFaithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. 12Go, and proclaim these words toward tthe north, and say,

u“‘Return, faithless Israel,

declares the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for vI am merciful,

declares the Lord;
wI will not be angry forever.
13 xOnly acknowledge your guilt,
that you rebelled against the Lord your God
and scattered your favors among foreigners under yevery green tree,
and that you have not obeyed my voice,

declares the Lord.
14 zReturn, O faithless children,

declares the Lord;
aafor I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.
